Quietly, you walk into the forest. You soon notice how dark and silent it is under the trees. Careful not to step on any twigs or dry leaves, you proceed through the woods, keeping a sharp lookout for the Parakoopa.
There! What was that flash of white in the bushes?
What was that whooshing sound overhead?
Is it-? Could it be-?
The Parakoopa!
Above you, a tiny turtle-like creature is sitting on a branch, watching your every move and fluttering its feathery wings as though ready to take off at any moment. You stand perfectly still and, a few minutes later, the Parakoopa glides down from the branch and hovers in front of you.
"Hello," it says softly.
"Hello," you reply, doing your best not to scare the foot-high creature.
The Parakoopa stares intently at a nearby bush. Just as you begin to give up hope of it talking to you anymore, it says, "I'm Clover. I'm a female Plant Koopa."
You strain your ears to catch the rest of what Clover says in her quiet voice.
"I was adopted from the Parakoopa Aviary. I came from a wild clutch. I'm not mated yet."
Clover hovers low over a bare spot of ground and flaps her wings rapidly. In a few seconds, flowers begin to bloom under her.
"My species," she continues, "we hold power over plants. We can make crops grow faster and we love to work in gardens. We're usually very shy, and we live in forests."
Clover waves her hand at a clump of small pine trees. They disappear, revealing a path.
"That trail will take you to the Parakoopa Aviary," Clover tells you.
"Thanks," you reply. "It was nice meeting you."
Clover nods. "May
the flowers alongside your path always smell sweet," she says. Then
she vanishes in the blink of an eye.
