You trudge down the sandy slope towards the sparkling blue lake. Shielding your eyes from the bright reflections of the sun, you spot a tiny speck darting back and forth over the water.
As you approach, the speck moves towards you and soon is visible as a Parakoopa. It is about two feet tall, with a sleek blue shell and smooth white wings, more like a penguin's than a flying bird's. As the Parakoopa halts in front of you, you can see tiny webs between its fingers and toes.
"Hi, I'm Indalia! What's up?" the Parakoopa asks in a very conversational tone.
You introduce yourself and explain what you are doing at the lake. The Parakoopa seems only too happy to tell you everything you could possibly want to know.
"I'm a female Water Koopa," Indalia says. "This is my lake. You like it?"
You nod your approval and Indalia continues.
"Water Koopas are very high-ranking Parakoopas. We live near the sea and can move water, you know, make waves and stuff. Wanna see?"
Without waiting for a response, Indalia flies over the lake and waves her hands. A whirlpool forms, and a column of water erupts into the air.
"Pretty cool, huh?" she grins and she flies back. "I'm a wild Koopa, and still, you know, unattached." Indalia winks mischievously at you. "Anyway, why don't you go take a scenic walk along that river? It leads to the Parakoopa Aviary."
"Thanks," you reply. "It was nice meeting you."
Indalia winks again.
"May your-hey, time for lunch!" She flies away over the lake.
